The founding wars are the first four wars that America had fought. These are the ones that occurred during our countries founding and helped secure our borders in the continental United States. This is where most of America was shaped both on the battlefield and on papper. During this time while we expanded, many of the foundations that America functions upon today were being built.

I considered the first four to be the founding wars for a few reasons. One is that these occurred during our contries birth and easily played a role in how it was created. Since we had just earned freedom from a monarchy, a king was deffinatly out of the question. In turn we set many checks and balances for our goverment so that one branch wouldn't have more power thatn the other. Another, is each could have made the country much different due to the outcome. For example had we lost the revolutionary, severe punishments would have been placed on the colonies and who knows for how long we would have remained under complete control.

Each war did their own part in shaping America. The Revolutionary gaves us freedom and an example on how to set up a goverment with propper checks and balances. The war of 1812 showed we were still valnerable as a country but could band together for a commong good. It also gave Americans a strong sense of pride knowing we beat the worlds greates military twice. Texas Independence showed that being more patient than your enemy and using your knowledge of the world around you can almost guarentee a victory. It also paved the way for Texas being brought into the union. Texas Independence added the the South Western part of the country into the union. It also secured America as the leading power in the Western hemisphere.
