Welcome to Cats! Most commonly known as the domestic cat, the Felis catus is a small, furry carnivouous mammal. Humans value cats for their hunting of mice and other rodents. A cat's companionship is also a reason why humans favor cats. Having been associated with humans for at least 9,500 years, cats are the most popular pet in the world.

Cat Facts

About 37% of American homes today have at least one cat.

It has been scientifically proven that owning cats is good for our health and can decrease the occurrence of high blood pressure and other illnesses.

A cat will amost never "meow" at another cat. This sound is reserved for humans.

Ailurophilia is the "love of cats."
