Picks

The table below shows the varying widths that are available in picks. Thinner picks are more flexible and make a wider range of sounds. Thicker picks allow for a more controlled tone. It is recommended you use a tick pick when doing extremely fast picking. Guitar picks are usually made of one material throughout. Common materials are wood, metal, plastic, nylon, and other exotic materials such as agate and other stones. Picks are most commonly shaped in an isosceles triangle with two rounded edges and one that is not as rounded.
