Common Themes

Some common themes that are found throughout greek mythology are self control. They would show the dangers of being prideful, over indulgent, and basically falling into the major seven sins. That and heroes would often use wit, bravery , and the help of the gods to save someone. Be it a city, or a family member, or even helping a god.

Lessons

Often times, if not in all greek myths, the hero the strory is based around will learn a lesson. It can range from simple lessons about mortality, pride, and even lessons pertaining to love. But some lessons are not very applicable to modern times, besides historians. Those stories have lesssons learned such as, obeying the gods.........

Reasoning

Often times the lack of understanding of nature and the human body would lead to what we would see as a very strange, uneducated way of seeing the world. They would have people eaten, but live, people born when the mothers dead, or birth from inanimate objects. The reasoning behind this showed that life, or birth was very important it reigned over death, and good would often triumph.
