Information
Pottery is made of clay. Clay is the most significant ceranmic material in the world. To actually be called a ceranmic, the clay must be fired. Firing is a stage on the list of steps to create pottery. Before you learn the stages you most know how clay is readied to form pottery. It all starts in the ground clay is dug up and is full of other crap. So you have to sift that other stuff out.
The stages of pottery before your final product go like this:
- You build it out of clay.
- Then you let it dry and fire it.
- Next you glaze it.
- Finally you fire it.
The first process you really have a lot of options here and will be the outline of the final product. You can either hand build or throw it on the wheel to create your pot. The next step you can make slight changes to your pot but once you put it in your kiln, or place you fire your pot, you can't make any changes to the shape. The next step is very important, you pick which color you want it to turn. To this you pick your glaze and finally fire it. After it cools your finally finished and you can enjoy your pot.
