Where it started
Really no one knows who invented snowboarding. The best answers is the first daredevil that one day was sledding and thought of going down the hill standing up on the sled. They called it stupid, but today we call it snowboarding. The fist sign of the snowboard was the "Snurfer".Made by Sherman Poppen. What it was, is that it was a little plastic surfboard for the snow, that had a rope that came up and for the rider to hold on to. This item was popular in the eye's of children.
As the toy was getting more popular, there were more organized competitions being help. In the 1980’s the sport of snowboarding was becoming more popular now in adults. As the sport was growing so were the designs from the look of the “snurfer” to more now what we see in today’s snowboards. Going from a rope to a binding.
