The Brozek/Heiser family never really had played Apples to Apples until one of our family dinners a few years ago. The circle of players had started off very small and grown into the whole family sitting on the living room floor. Everyone was hollering, hooting, laughing and talking very loudly! When the family is in the mood to play a game, the game Apples to Apples usually gets mentioned, whether we play it or not.
There have always been old croquet sets taking up space in the garage. A long time ago when most of the cousins were very young we would play around with the clubs and hit the colored balls around. We had no clue what we were doing but we sure did act like it. At a family dinner during the summer we brought it out and set it up in the back yard. Surprisingly the game is very fun. We had about 10 people playing and it was a great time! We should whip that out more often!
We like to play Croquet!

More Activities...

Our family also enjoys sitting around and playing cards. Almost every time that the family is gathered together a deck of cards is brought out. After someone whips out the cards, teams are divided up and the game begins. Steve gets very competitive with other teams. He's always communicating with his partner to make sure they lay down the best card(s) to make the best play possible. He's the card king.
Casey is also a little card master. Taking after her dad, she loves to play cards (or atleast acts like it)! Whenever the family is playing cards she's right there at the table with them. She's really learned how to be an effective player to help out her partner/team. Sometimes she gets sick of all the card playing but she holds it in and continues to play. What a good sport!
While the majority of the family plays cards, the rest of the kids usually like to just hang arond and talk. When we were younger obstacle courses were a big thing. The older cousins, Lacey, Ashley and Jordyn would make up different obstacle courses for the young ones to climb through. We would use everything they could find to put something fun together for them. We used the "big ball", string tied to fans, air matresses, pillows, blankets, garbage cans, chairs, pop up tunnels and so much more to create challenging mazes. One particular obstacle course that I remember quite well was a very challenging one. It had yarn tied to the ceiling fan so that when it was turned on the strings would be an obstacle in itself to get around them without being touched with one. In this obstacle we also put grandma's round stone garbage can and had the little kids walk on it with help from one of us. (This got a bit scary!) Also we made them roll on their tummies on the big red ball from one chair to the next. Amongst all these challenges there were many more. Obstacle courses helped us pass alot of time when we were together!
When we were all younger we loved to make paper airplanes with each other. Everyone would gather around Uncle Steve and he would teach us how to fold and crease paper to make airplanes. They wouldn't always fly the best but they passed time. We would often get them stuck up on platform in the living room. Grandpa sometimes would lift us up there to get balls down but not for airplanes! Noah would always try the to go up, but nope, grandpa wouldn't give in for just an airplane.
