Building Boards

Yeah, that's right, I am talking about making your own board. It is actually not that hard to do. It just takes a little time and a little money to do. It is really fun and usually costs quite a bit less than buying your board. As and added plus, you can completely customize your board and make it exactly how you want. If you want a hard carving board you can have it! If you want a speed board than make it like that! The point being you can do what ever you want to your board. While there are some retailers that allow you to customize your board really well, building your own lets you customize it completely. I also think that the sense of accomplishment and the fun of making it are worth it. I made a longboard with my brother this last summer and it worked out great. Apart from not using enough glue and the board splitting a little, the board is awesome. I am confident that you can make an awesome longboard of your own as well.
So, first things first. You are going to need a press before you can begin constructing your board. There are a couple different kinds of presses that you could use. First there is the bolt press, this is the one that I used and it wasn't too hard to make, nor cost much. Follow these plans at www.instructables.com and you'll be fine.
This site does an awesome job and makes it easy to follow along, step by step until you are finished. They do a better job than I could ever do, plus it is the same site that I used to make mine. The guy that made the plans has a comment section if you need any help than just ask him, he know much more than me.
