Longboarding is a sport that is very similar to skateboarding and traces its origins back to the same time period. Longboards are basically the same but have wider trucks and wheels along with a much larger board in general. There are several different types of longboards, some are not very long and are actually about the same size as a skateboard while some of them are ridiculously large.
Longboards are made up of a large deck, wide trucks, and large wheels. All the same things as skateboards, just bigger and with modified equipment. The longboard is made with a flexible deck that allows for an easier ride and better control. These can be made with a variety of different types of wood, depending on how much flex and feel you want. The same thing with trucks, there are many different kinds that all have different control, speed, and flex.
Skateboards are made up of a relatively small deck, trucks, and wheels. They tend to be more durable and are much lighter. Skateboards are primarily used for preforming tricks on the street, such as ollies, kickflips, pop shuv-its, and different grinds. They are also used for many aerial maneuvers when used on ranps or half pipes. Here is a typical skateboard, as you can see the skateboard is not as long as the longboard, who would have thought?
