Most little girls take ballet classes when they are younger. The little girls get to dress up for recitals in their pink tu tus and absolutely love to dance, smile, and wave at their mommy's and daddy's.

In 1581 Catherine de MŽdicis director was the person who made the first ballet. After the wedding, at the reception or the celebration, he not only showed his first ballet but he also showed people the first dramatic ballet ever. Ballet continued to grow through out the years. Many little kids take ballet for a couple of years, and a lot of teens still take ballet today.

In the seventeenth hundreds ballets were performed in between opera scenes. Ballet grew more popular as the years went on and eventually became its own performing art. In 1661 King Louis XIV of France made Paris the place to study ballet. Italy also had a good ballet program and both Paris and Italy's ballet programs grew throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth century.

Ballet academies became more popular as the years went on. Students had to learn the language/ vocabulary of ballet. Below is a link to show you some of the most common vocabulary words.
