MMCCN

History

MaMa Children Center of Norway (MMCCN) is an institution started and led by Rakel Trovi from Langesund in Norway. She started her work in Manilla on the Philippines for over 22 years ago, all by herself. In the beginning she walked alone among the poorest people in the slum and those who lived on the mountain big public dumpsite called 'Smokey Mountain'. Rakel Lost her husband in 1979, and she went into a depression and lost her will to live. One day she laid on her couch at home, God spoke to her. He said that she was dying of her grief, which made Rakel mad. She got of from the coach and said to God that from now on she wanted to live fully for him. A couple of weeks later she went to an evening meeting in her church. There they showed a video from someone that worked among the poor people on the dumpsite mountain of Manila. That night God called Rakel to help the less fortunate people of Manila. Rakel first stayed with a Christian organization called YWAM (Youth With A Mission) for a period of three months. When she got back, a well known Norwegian radio speaker heard about her and he interviewed her on his radio show. The Norwegian people started fundraisers and there were created an account in the bank to help Rachel get started. After that the work just exploded.
