The Role Healthy Foods Play In Your Body
Fruit
The more natural food is, the better it is for your body. Fruit is one of the most natural foods you can eat. Your body is 80% water. Guess what? Fruit also consists of 80% water. Fruit helps your body receive a healthy amount of water.
Fruit also stimulates your memory. By eating fruit you are helpign your brain remember information quickly.
Fruit contains healthy natural fibers which decrease yur chance of having high blood pressure, coronary heart disease and even certain cancers. Eating fruit helps decrease bone loss which reduces your chance of developing kidney stones(which are extremely painful). /p>
Fruit gives your body a wonderful amount of nutrients such as potassium, (which helps you maintain healthy blood pressure) fiber and Vitamin C. Surprisingly Vitamin C also helps heal your cuts and scrapes, and contribute to healthy teeth and gums
Vegetables
Vegetables contain many of the same positive elements as fruit. They are also a naturally low calorie and low fat food. Since vegetables contain fiber, they help you feel fuller with fewer calories. Vegetables contain no cholesterol which many Americans struggle with lowering. Eating vegetables helps reduce cholesterol levels and reduces your chance of obtaining heart disease.
Your body receives many nutrients when you eat vegetables, such has potassium and vitamins. Vitamin A protects you from infections. and keeps your eyes and skin healthy. Vitamin C (along with healing cuts and wounds) aids in absorption.
Protein
There are many different ways your body can gain the benefits of protein. You can eat meat, fish, beans or nuts. Your body needs protein to receive nutrients and maintenance. Some of the nutrients are Vitamin B and Vitamin E, along with Zinc and magnesium. Zinc helps your immune system function effectively. Vitamin B is also great for you because it helps you release energy!
Protein is used to build bones, muscles, cartilage and skin. Meat is not the only type of protein. Don't forget about nuts. Nuts help reduce you risk of heart attacks and disease. They also help prevent blood clots. Protein gives you body fibers which as you remember from the previous section...helps you feel fuller longer.
Antioxidants
Your body needs antioxidants to keep your cells healthy. Before continuing, you need to understand the term free radicals. You have electrons in your body which are substances that are there to bond atoms together to form molecules. If these bonds split and a molecule is no longer paired with an electron, it is a weak bond. When this occurs, radicals are formed. These free radicals bond to molecules in your tissues and damages cells and possibly DNA Therefore you need antioxidants to defuse the damage free radicals cause to your body. Without antioxidants your body would eventually break down. Unfortunately many foods hinder your healthy because of all the bad chemicals they contain. All fast food, fried food and processed food all contain the chemicals which increase the growth of free radicals. Food is not the only contributor to free radicals. Your body also absorbs chemicals through household products such as pain, glue, laundry detergents and many cleaning products. Finally, stress we all have it. Anytime your body has stress you produce more free radicals. Yikes! Antioxidants are vital to your body because they fight against these chemicals and other causes which develop free radicals.
