The Xbox 360 came out in the year 2005 and was probably the most anticipated system debut ever. The hit T.V. program MTV even had a broadcast of the debut...this has never been done before. The Xbox 360 was so hyped up because it was the first third generation system on the market. This system brought us gamers everything we wanted or needed. It had better graphics, wireless controllers, An online multiplayer mode (at a price). The best was NO MEMORY CARDS!The Xbox 360 came out with three different hard drive giga bytes. The Arcade has 256 MB the smallest of the three and comes with a wireless controller. The Pro had 20 GB but it has been discontinued this version had a wireless controller. And the Gran - Daddy of them all, the Elite. The Elite has 120 GB Hard Drive, a headset to talk to people online, and a wireless controller. The video cables are included in all of these.
After the huge debut of the Xbox, Sony had to get into the competition. The Playstation 3 (the third installment of the Playstation systems) came out about one year after the Xbox 360. The Playstation was highly anticipated but not as much as the Xbox 360. In one year the Microsoft sold 200,000 Xbox 360 units. So most gamers had a Xbox 360 or were content with the Playstation 2, so they did not buy a PS3. It did not help that PS3 were 600 dollars when they came out. The bulk of the buyers were Playstation fan boys or gaming fanatics. The Playstation 3 offered one of the best Blu-ray players to date and free online gaming. It also could store your music, movies, and most other media. The PS3 had a variety of systems. The lowest Hard Drive space was 20 GB and was around 400 dollars. And the highest GB hard drive was 80 GB. This system was a whopping 600 dollars. About one year ago (depending when you are reading this) Sony came out with a "slim" version of the PS3. This new version was extremely cheap and used up less energy. They're only two hard drive amounts. 120 GB for 300 dollars. Or a 250 GB system for 350 dollars. Each system came with video cables, at least 2 or more USB ports and a wireless controller.
The Nintendo Wii came out in June 2006. This system was a revolutionary system, It used motion controls. This was previously done on the Playstation but very little motion control and only a few games supported it. The Wii was Nintendo’s latest game counsel an was long over-due. It was almost five years since the GameCube came out. This system was craved by Nintendo fan boys. It offered motion control and one of the first games was a Zelda game, which is a hit series through out Ninendo systems. Zelda: The Twilight Princess scored a 95 on metacritic.com. This is n extremely fun game and I would suggest it to all who haven't played it, but if you or a friend do not own a Wii I would not go out and buy one. Yes they are very cheap but so are the graphics. It is not that amazing outside of the fact that it harnesses motion controllers. I feel that the Wii let gamers down, Nintendo should have kept up with games like, "The Twilight Princess." Instead they took more of a family route which is a little disappointing.
