History

Christianity broke away from Judasim about 2000 years ago. They draw importance to the prophesies of the Old Testament that fortells of a Messiah. This was fulfilled by the birth of Jesus. He was born to Mary the virgin, and her husband Joseph. He traveled with twelve disciples, and performed many miracles and taught many parables. He taught people to "love thy neighbor" and also the concept of salvation. Jesus was revealed to be the Son of God who was sent to the earth to save humanity. He taught people about forgivness and eternal peace. But, Jesus was betrayed by one of his disciples for 30 pieces of silver, and he was crucified on the cross for his teachings. He was charged with blasphemy aginst God, and he was found guilty by the Jews and he was killed. After he was crucified, he rose from the dead and appeared to his disciples. He told them to spread the message, then he went into heaven.

Beliefs

Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and he came to the earth to rescue sinners from eternal damnation in hell. They believe that Jesus was fully human, but at the same time fully God. Christians believe that if they repent of their sins they can join him in heaven, after death, and be saved from hell.

Fundamentals of Christianity
  • God: there is one true God, but God consists of three parts:
    1. Father
    2. Son
    3. Holy Spirit
  • Bible: true inspired Word of God
  • Death and Resurrection of Jesus: Jesus was crucified on the cross for the sins of all people. And he was resurrected three days later.
  • Return of Jesus: Jesus will return to judge the living and the dead.
  • Salvation and Punishment: Those who believe in Jesus will be reunited with him after death. Those who do not believe will spend eternity in hell.

Ideas of Christianity
  1. Christianity is open to all
    • "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, so that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life."(John 3:16)
  2. Christianity is a relationship with God that solves the problems of sin.
    • Faith is not based on good deeds or keeping laws. All sin, and all need redemption
  3. Jesus is still alive
    • Jesus died, but was resurrected after three days, and he lives on
